The albums displayed here are housed in the Field Museum Anthropology Records Room and contain images of Moorehead’s excavation, maps, and professional photographs of artifacts. In recent years, the Field Museum has been digitizing all of its historic photo albums in order to preserve these fantastic (and little known) resources. These two Hopewell albums have been converted into a format that most resembles their original form—allowing you to flip through the pages digitally. While we have kept the albums as true to their original form as possible, images of human remains have been redacted because of their cultural sensitivity. We have chosen to remove only the images themselves and have left the photo captions in place.
